SNL Rules
Creation
The parts you submit for SNL MUST BE 100% YOUR OWN CREATIONS!
Size/Resolution
Papers are to be 12x12. Set your resolution to 200 dpi. Size your elements appropriately to fit a 12x12 page, so that huge amounts of resizing are not necessary. [eyelets as big as a person’s head are not very useable]
Filenames
Name your files in this manner:
Your DSP name-SNL##-your part nameExample: JustScraps-SNL8-tag.png
File Formats/Saving
SAVE in the following formats: .JPG for papers/backgrounds that fill the entire 12x12 area AND DON'T need to be see-through. Save elements (tags, ribbons, eyelets, frames, etc) or overlays that DO need to be see-through as .PNG files. All programs can open these files.
PLEASE DO NOT submit files in .PSD or PSPimage format! These can only be opened by the program they were created in.
Text File/Copyright
Submit a text file in each upload zipped in with your creations. Make in Notepad or other text editor. This is required to cover any copyright issues. The text file should sound something like this:
These items have been created by YOUR NAME HERE, They are property of YOUR NAME HERE, copyright [or ©] 2006. These items may/may not be shared with anyone/SNL contributing members or used for commercial purposes.
(if you used a freeware item please list it here) To insert the copyright symbol, hold down the ALT-key, hit (on the number pad) 0169 and release.
(Save and name your .txt file the same as your other files – justscraps-snl8-©text.txt – or justscraps-snl8-copyright info.txt. If you have more than one text file, add a 1, 2, 3 to the filename, so they won’t be overwritten by subsequent downloads.
Composites/Previews/Thumbnails
You will also need one composite sized 6x6 inches at 72dpi for your preview image and one sized 2x2 inches at 72dpi for the thumbnail. Do not zip these as you will have to upload them separately from your files.
Zipping Files
Zip your files in preparation for uploading. The easiest way is to use Windows Explorer, click on the file, then right-click, choose Send To, choose Compressed (zipped) Folder. This will create a new zipped file named after the first file chosen. You can rename this file according to #3 above. You may zip several files together by clicking on the first one, then holding down the CTRL key while you click on the other files.
The minimum submission is 4 items, the maximum is 8 in one file and an optional add-on of 4 items. You will have 2 (or at max 3) zipped files to upload. Compress your JPGs to medium to save on download time and to be able to fit all your 8 items into one 10MB or less file and the 4 item add-on into 5MB or less. There will be no difference in printing quality. This is Zipped size. Always Zip your files!
Definition of items/elements:
1 paper, 1 frame, 1 set of photo corners, 1 of each color ribbon/eyelet/brad/button, etc.
Alphas – Upper & Lowercase plus numbers = 4 items
Quick Click = 4 items
If there is any question about how to count elements, please ask.
